Sharp Test

I've just posted these two images as a test for sharpness my main bugbear especially as in this case when sized down, both are 950 631. The top shot was rejected for publishing on a website because there were areas that lacked sharpness. The second is the resharpened version, sharpened by quite a bit but is it to sharp?

I'll post another image tonight as this one is a bit of a repetition.

Those that need to know know

Sorry I haven't posted for a wee bit but I've been a wee bit preoccupied. I've been trying to get in contact with the company that bough my images last year as their contract ran out over a month ago and the images are still on their website.

The NY branch of the international branding company that first approached me on behalf of their client do not respond to my emails. Their clients representatives to whom the images were sent no longer work for the company and the automated email response from them with suggested contacts well... the contacts do not respond to my emails.... apart from one six days ago and as they are new in the post I am bearing with them as they asked....

Pine Tree 2

The bad FG in the last shot bugged my mince so much I decided not to wait until tomorrow to post this the better version lol. Originally I was going to make it colour but it seemed to cry out B&W

Pine Tree Loch Doon

I thought I'd try Loch Doon for a change. There appears to be so much to shoot there from the Loch itself to the castle. The castle at the south end off the loch dates back to 1306 and was originally located on an island in the loch and played a pivotal role in the Scottish wars of independence. It was designed and built by Sir Christopher Seton, brother-in-law of Robert Bruce, King of Scots, and is perhaps the best example of an octagonal castle in the country. As I said there seems so much to shoot there but I can never make anything of the location... and nothing has changed.

Anyway the planned location needed to be under water and it wasn't... high and dry. After trying a few unsuccessful shots I decided to head back to the coast to hopefully catch the sunset. Just as I was leaving the north end off the loch I stopped for this shot, wish I'd taken more time over it and done it properly. This shot as far as the FG goes is dreadful it was a rescue job from silhouette, I post this mainly as a reminder to myself to do the job properly, also I do like the sky! The next shot from this spot should work out better lol. I think I'll need to give the Loch a miss from now on.

Pattack Falls

The falls featured in the BBC Monarch off the Glen series.

and i won't mention anything about reversing the car into a ditch in the car park leaving one drive wheel in the air and with no rotund American visitors ;) in sight I had to get the whole family to sit on the bonnet (hood) to put the wheel back on the ground and be able to drive out the ditch.

This is just to show the difference 5 minutes can make, taken just five minutes before the last post this was the best I thought the night had to offer and I had packed up to head home.

The last post was straight from camera no photoshop trickery this shot however has had some white balance work done on the foreground only.

Worlds End

Taken tonight and apart from some sharpening in PS straight from camera. Hard to believe looking at this I was kneeling in a rock pool in the rain and having a hell of a job keeping the rain off the lens!!

Eige

Just back from my travels and trying to avoid seascapes lol's. Taken close to Portnaluchaig with the isle of Eige (or anglicised spelling Eigg) in the background.
