Shepherd

Titled so 1 red sky at night shepherds delight 2 reference to a lighthouse being a kind of shepherd of the sea

There was something about this shot taken back in Feb that I just did not like! Back then I could not quite put my finger on it and still can't! Perhaps it is just the fact that while taking it I had envisaged a different result, a result in which just did not happen? That said way back then I did like the colour of clouds (unaltered apart from darkened "very" slightly) and still do, so that is the reason why I'm posting it.

2000 Acres of Sky

I thought would spend my time without a proper camera scouting out new locations. This is one place I'll need to return to.

Should I ?

Since the old digital went ta-ta and my 35mm foray was a disaster should I try my old Voigtlander Perkeo IIIe with f3.5 80mm Color-Skopar complete with leather case?

Dusk at Lendalfoot

Nearly went down the Pentax K10d DSLR road yesterday but didn't and the Sigma sd14 would be great if you never shot over ISO 2oo so I'm still stuck in the stone-age until I can decide :)

Rocks On

The weather (rain wind) was not affordin any photo opportunities today so rather than let it go to waste I spent my time balancin rocks... as all grown men do! Don't they:)) As I said a wee bit inclement and to windy for anythin fancy, but hey you do what you can to pass the time! The heart shaped base rock is about 7 inches in high.

Base rock same as before.

The rocks in this shot are out off focus but show more clearly the fine surface area for balancing... can't wait for a calm day!

Snaggletooth

Back to digital :)) and the missin G

The reason for this shot is I was drawn to the row of nails that had once secured this small wooden dingy together. Which in turn now look like a row of sharp teeth ready to rip everythin asunder!

Came and Went

.... the return to 35mm was an unmitigated disaster as this scan of a print shows! The meter readings on the camera showed the exposure and aperture were both correct but the sea and sky are totally blown. One thing I have to say at this point is when the prints were being developed I did not get them to darken or lighten them as I thought I could do that on the PC. As you can clearly see that is obviously beyond me, or perhaps it is not possible rescue this shot?

This next shot an 8" exposure I have managed to darken but it still looks crap!! So all in all a big disappointment and I think it shows up my lack off skill one that digital photography masks! I guess I'll not be buying a negative scanner now just another digi camera. You live and learn :)

2AM Boathoose

so speed is of the essence. strangely as the boathouse is painted a matt black you really need to click the pic to enlarge it for it to look right... hopefully.

otherwise it just does not look right and is almost lost
